The only way to get all your pictures from iCloud photo library onto your qnap in one fell swoop is to get them ALL onto a computer of some sort or iPhone/iPad - either by turning on iCloud Photo Library with downloading originals and then backing that up to the QNAP, or downloading 100-1000 at a time from and then copying them to the QNAP. Overall I really appreciate your help and support!!□ I have optimized activated on my MacBook Pro too because I am on the move all the time and need my space mainly for other stuff.unfortunately storage upgrades are not possible anymore □□□ The source issue was that it only showed me the optimized versions on my photo app and didn’t download the full version once opened (displaying the message “cannot load picture”) which led to this whole chaos in the first place. Yes exactly that’s why it was only taking 5gigs on my phone. I never turned off optimization I logged out of my iCloud account and it said it would delete all the pictures so I said “okay delete all pictures from my phone” and instead it started to download all of them.□ My mobile data is but apparently iOS still doesn’t allow to do certain things via mobile data. The problem is I don’t have a device with enough storage and my wifi is not strung enough to do that. I backed up my photo library on the MacBook to my QNAP NAS via file copy, and to a Drobo NAS via time machine. HOWEVER, I did not turn optimization on with my 16 inch MacBook Pro, so I have a full resolution copy of my iCloud photo library duplicated on the cloud and on my MacBook SSD. So some of the photos on my iPhone are originals, and some are thumbnails. For instance my iPhone 11 promax is optimized, and my 350 GB photo library on the cloud is taking up 130 GB of space on my iPhone. PS: optimizing should not decrease the size or resolution of the photo stored on the cloud, it should only reduce the resolution on your local device (Mac, iPhone, iPad) to that of a thumbnail when you run out of room on your local device. If you don’t have enough internal storage space on a Macintosh to download all the originals, I know how you can set your iCloud photo library to reside on an external drive (open Photos while holding the option key, and then create a new Photo library on the external drive). I would also consider downloading originals to your computer as a back up from the cloud, either with iCloud for windows or with a Macintosh if you have one. One solution if the last paragraph is correct, would be to delete as much media and applications from your phone until there’s enough free space to download the rest of your pictures. I read where you say it’s using 150GB on you phone, but I see that it was 5GB before when you were optimized, and then I’m guessing it went to 150 GB when you turned off optimization but then you ran out of room on your phone? Is that correct? How many places do you have a full copy of your full resolution picture stored? As far as you know are they all on the cloud? If you sign into, can you see them and view them on a computer?ĭo you have any devices that have enough room to store 165 to 200 GB of photos? /r/AppleMusic for discussion of Apple's music streaming service./r/iOSSetups for iOS wallpapers, setups, and apps./r/iPhoneXSMax for XS Max specific issues./r/AppleSwap if you want to trade devices!.Keep an eye on temporarily free or discounted apps on /r/AppHookup!.Your iPhone broke?
